CAMPUS PEOPLE CNN International Interviews Dr. Curtis
During the two-minute interview, Grant asked Dr. Curtis about the impact of China’s planned October 15 launch of an astronaut to space. With a successful launch, China will become only the third nation, behind the United States and Russia, to have the capability to launch men and women to space. “China joins a very exclusive club,” Dr. Curtis said, “and will become a respected player as the International Space Station and exploration of the planets move forward.” Dr. Curtis was on an audio link to Hong Kong and the television screen showed a photo of him and a map of North Carolina indicating Pembroke. In September and October, reporters in Reuter’s news bureaus in Beijing and Shanghai also interviewed Dr. Curtis about the upcoming space launch. On the same day as the CNN interview, Dr. Curtis also was interviewed by the Santa Barbara News-Press newspaper about the final launch of a Titan II rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on October 15. Dr. Curtis is founder and editor of the non-profit, news website “Space Today Online” at www.spacetoday.org. He is interviewed regularly by media as an analyst when space events happen. In February, he moderated online web forums for both USA Today and The Washington Post discussing the shuttle Columbia disaster. |
