Dr. Curtis to be president of Friends of the Library for second year
The 5th annual Friends of the Library benefit event, held April 21, raised approximately
$13,000.
The proceeds will be used for maintaining leasing programs for books and DVDs,
scholarship efforts, speaker programs, financing the prizes for the winners of the
Poetry/Short Prose Contest, and receptions for campus and visiting authors, among other
projects.
"It was a fine evening, and I would like to thank all who bought tickets, made
contributions to the silent auction, purchased items at the live and silent auctions and
assisted with the setup and entertainment," said Dean of Library Services Elinor Foster.
"Our Music Department should be proud as punch of their students; they were
represented by the String and Jazz Ensembles and young ladies who performed, including
music major Robyn Baker."
Officers for the Friends of the Library for 2006-07 were elected at the general
membership meeting of April 5. They are: President, Dr. Anthony R. Curtis (Mass
Communications); Vice President/President-elect, Dr. Liliana Wendorff (Languages);
Secretary, Anne Coleman (Library); and Treasurer, Susan Whitt (Library).
