The North Carolina Association of Historians offers opportunities for historians in all fields — American, Non-Western, European, state and local — to meet and discuss research and exchange ideas with colleagues throughout the state of North Carolina.

Call for Papers for the Association's Annual Meeting on March 28, 2008

The Association's annual meeting will be held on the campus of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Pembroke, North Carolina on Friday, March 28, 2008.  Historians interested in presenting papers should send an abstract to Professor Charles Beem (charles.beem@uncp.edu) at UNC Pembroke.  Undergraduate and graduate students are also invited to submit proposals to Professor Beem.  Follow the Call for Papers link for submission guidelines and forms.  The deadline for the submission of proposals is February 15, 2008.

Prizes for Papers Presented at the Annual Meeting

Papers presented at the annual meeting are eligible for consideration for the Association's Prizes.  The Brewster Prize is for college or university faculty.  In addition, there are prizes for Undergraduate and Graduate student papers.  Prize-winning papers are considered for publication in the Association's Journal.

The Journal of the North Carolina Association of Historians

The Association publishes the Journal of the North Carolina Association of Historians (ISSN 1078-4330).  The Journal features articles in all fields of History and a generous selection of book reviews.  Historians interested in submitting articles for possible publication should send them to Professor Conchita Ndege (cndegep@yahoo.com), Editor, Journal of the North Carolina Association of Historians, Department of History, Department of History, North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, NC 27411.  Please submit a paper copy and a disk with the paper in WordPerfect or MS Word.  For additional information about the Journal, please contact Professor Roberto.  Books for review should be send to Professor Michael Roberto (robertom@ncat.edu), also at North Carolina A&T State University.  Book reviewers are invited to advise Professor Zhang of their areas of interest and expertise.  The deadline for all submissions is January 15, 2008.  For submission guidelines, click here.

Annual Dues

Annual dues for the North Carolina Association of Historians are $15.00.  Student dues are $5.00.  All active members receive a copy of the Association's Journal.  Dues should be sent to Professor James I. Martin, Sr., Executive Secretary-Treasurer, Department of Government, History, and Justice, Campbell University, Buies Creek, NC 27506.  Click here for the membership form.
