The campus climbing wall is located in the UNCP Outdoor Education Center, which is located between University Village Apartments and the UNCP softball field. It is a fifty feet tall structure with six climbing routes that range in level of difficulty. The climbing wall is presently open Monday through Thursday from 1 PM until 5 PM. It will remain open throughout the fall semester as long as weather permits.

Use of the climbing wall will be restricted to individuals who have taken one belay certification class and passed the subsequent belay test. Fall semester belay certification classes will be held each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of September and October at 6 PM in Room 26 of the Jones Physical Education Building. Classes are limited to 20 participants. Please phone the UNCP Regional Center at 910-522-8410 to register for one of the belay certification classes. There is a $10.00 yearly equipment use fee payable at the start of the belay certification class. The belay certification test will be given at the climbing wall at a date and time following completion of the belay certification class. Individuals enrolled in PED 190, Outdoor Fitness, will be exposed to the belay certification requirements and test as part of the course and need not enroll in this offering.
