My experience with the NC-Health Careers Access Program has afforded me valuable knowledge that will be imbedded in my soul forever. Having accepted this internship has afforded me the opportunity to look on the other side of the sliding glass window to experience and realize what has to happen to make the office be productive on a daily basis.
Ashley D. Hunt, 2006
I have been exposed to many things and I have learned so much through my experience that I only want to pursue my career as a Nurse even more. I would recommend the Clinical Health Summer Program to anyone that is interested in the healthcare field because of the exposure and the experience of actually working with others in the Health Care field.
Ashley M. Locklear, 2006
The nurses taught me techniques that were useful in my clinical experience. I don’t think I could have learned so many procedures or observed so much if it wasn’t for their willingness to help and teach me all that I could learn. I could not have asked for a better place (Robeson Family Practice) to gain experience and knowledge about running of a family practice.
Jacqueline L. Melton, 2006
My clinical experience has given me a tremendous amount to consider. I have always enjoyed working with people and helping those in need as much as possible. However, I am re-thinking how I want to accomplish that. My original plans were to obtain my BSN but I am reassessing my career as a nurse.
Jessica M. Ortiz, 2006
My internship experience has been a wonderful opportunity to learn. There is such a broad spectrum of treatments that a physical therapist provides and I didn’t know about half of them. This experience has furthered my drive to pursue the career of physical therapy. I truly feel this is the work I am meant to do. In addition, I want to pursue a dual degree of physical therapy and occupational therapy. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to reinforce my interests in this field.
Shannon K. Rose, 2006
My clinical health summer experience in the pediatrician’s office has exposed me to many different aspects of the medical field. I have had the pleasure of not only working with a physician but also with a phlebotomist, nurses, a medical student, and medical office assistants. It has opened my eyes to the fact that working in a clinic is something that I would greatly enjoy once I do become a pediatrician, as well as issues that I will have to learn to face and conquer throughout medical school and life.
Kristi Sinclair, 2006
The experience that I had the opportunity to undertake by the Clinical Health Summer Program at SRMC has given me a new insight of oncology. There was great effort put forth to include me in the treatment and care of patients at the clinic. The exposure that I received while shadowing was the most beneficial segment of my internship experience. The compassion and genuine interest that was encompassing in your patients is admirable and inspirational and has further motivated me toward pursuing a career in the oncology field.
Lisa M. Walters, 2006
I have observed numerous exams at the clinic from colposcopy to breast examinations. Working with the nurse practitioners and the high-risk doctors was one of the highlights of my internship. Having the opportunity to observe a delivery first hand was so incredible. As a result of working with the nurse practitioners, I plan to continue my interest in Women’s Health and specialize in high-risk maternity.
