Emerging Leaders Fellow program, a full-time, one-year job opportunity for recent graduates at the Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) at NC State University
My name is John Coggin, and I am writing to announce the new Emerging Leaders Fellow program, a full-time, one-year job opportunity for recent graduates at the Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) at NC State University.
IEI is a collaborative “think-and-do tank” focused on tackling big issues that affect North Carolina’s future growth and prosperity. From energy, to fiscal modernization, to improving our systems of higher education, IEI takes the lead in convening state leaders from business, higher education and government to address these issues early to prepare for future challenges and opportunities.
IEI, with the generous support of BB&T, has established an Emerging Leaders Program as part of an extended effort to train our up-and-coming leaders. As part of this program, IEI will hire one outstanding recent graduate as its Emerging Leaders Fellow. The Fellow will work as an integral part of the IEI team on a variety of projects. Over the course of 11 months with IEI, the Fellow will:
• Serve as both lead and assistant on programs related to engaging other emerging leaders across the state;
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of IEI’s yearly program of work and the world-renowned Emerging Issues Forum; and
• Work with the IEI Director to formulate an individualized plan of work to develop particular skills of value to both the Fellow and IEI.
IEI will provide a competitive compensation package including: $45,000 annual salary, state holidays and two weeks paid vacation, up to $10,350 in cash contributions toward employee benefits, $1000 professional development allowance, and reimbursements for approved business related expenses. Applicants must apply by 11:59 p.m. on March 1, 2013, to https://jobs.ncsu.edu/postings/15490.

Call for Proposals
*NOTE* Submissions received after April 8, 2013 will not be considered.
The Planning Council of the Curriculum Studies Summer Collaborative (CSSC) invites your submissions for the second annual meeting in the heart of historic Savannah, Georgia. The CSSC will bring together diverse individuals within and beyond the field of Curriculum Studies. The Collaborative was developed to promote dialogue and cooperative action among established and emerging curriculum scholars. It is a process-oriented, generative space intended to support the work of the field. The Collaborative seeks to:
* Forge connections between established and emerging scholars, practitioners, and graduate students with many backgrounds, associations, and roles.
* Explore ways to expand, complicate, and color Curriculum Studies and expand traditional understandings of educational research.
* Establish a space for the planning, development, and ongoing renewal of collaborative projects and proposals.
* Promote mentoring and professional development opportunities for graduate students and early career scholars.
* Provide a conference opportunity for classroom teachers who are unable to travel during the traditional academic year.
The third annual conference will commence with an evening reception and welcome session on Wednesday June 19, followed by concurrent sessions on Thursday June 20 and Friday June 21, as well as Saturday morning. The conference will conclude at noon on Saturday June 22 to allow for return travel. We hope that you will join us for our second annual conference, and we look forward to receiving your submissions!

NASA Education Projects at Oklahoma State University.
We are recruiting minority junior and senior college students majoring in elementary education or secondary math or science education to join us this summer at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) for a week filled with STEM activities, speakers, tours and collaboration. The opportunity, NASA JSC Pre-Service Teacher Institute (PSTI) is an expenses-paid experience designed to equip future educators with resources and skills to integrate STEM inquiry-based lessons into their teaching. PSTI is a wonderful beginning for future teachers. Students gain the confidence to teach STEM lessons, collaborate with NASA scientists and educators, and create lessons using technology.
NASA JSC PSTI includes:
· A one-week summer residential opportunity designed to increase pre-service educators' skills in teaching STEM using NASA themed educational activities for early childhood, elementary education, and middle school education (K-8) majors preparing to teach in an elementary or middle school classroom;
· $250 stipend (for those who completely fulfill all requirements of program);
· Hotel accommodations paid by NASA JSC PSTI;
· Round-trip transportation from the student’s home to Houston, TX paid by NASA JSC PSTI (refer to the program website for details about transportation);
· Complimentary breakfast and light dinners are provided by the hotel, and lunches provided by NASA JSC PSTI; meals on travel days (Sunday and Saturday) are the responsibility of the participant; and
· NASA STEM education resources and materials including binders, educator guides, and curriculum support materials.
There are two opportunities for students to attend the NASA JSC PSTI: June 10-14 and June 24-28. Students will travel to Houston the Sunday prior to the Institute and return travel will be on Saturday.
