Grammy award winner Chubby Checker is considered the King of The Twist.  Checker changed how a generation danced, inspiring millions to flaunt their moves while “dancing apart to the beat.” "The Twist" was not only the #1 song but it introduced the concept of "dancing apart to the beat". Over the next few years, endless songs incorporating "The Twist" into its name sprang up such as "Peppermint Twist", "Twist and Shout" and "Twistin' the Night Away". In addition, each new song brought a new dance involving "dancing apart to the beat" such as "The Jerk", "The Hully Gully", "The Boogaloo" and "The Shake". At the forefront was Chubby with "The Fly", "The Pony" and "The Hucklebuck". Sponsored by Lumbee Guaranty Bank

Maintaining his allure as a sexy icon through generations of fans, Davy Jones first invaded teen hearts as the international idol of millions in the 1960s Emmy® Award winning television classic The Monkees. Since the show hit the small screen,Davy has triumphed as both a serious actor and a comedian on the theatrical stage; as a rock musician, composer and artist. Davy Jones sang lead vocals on classic Monkees songs such as “Daydream Believer”, “A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You”, and “Valerie.”

The theater remains in Davy's blood. Coming full circle in "Oliver!" he most recently received raved reviews for starring in the complex role of Fagin. He has also starred in productions of The Boyfriend, Harry Nilson's The Point, and appeared as Jesus in Godspell, which played in London's West End . Perhaps the most celebrated television appearance in Davy's long career as a heartthrob is The Brady Bunch episode, "Getting Davy Jones." Not only was he Marcia Brady's dream prom date, but the episode is on e of the most frequently aired reruns in television history. As a result, Davy reprised that role in the 1995's "The Brady Bunch Movie".
