As we bid farewell to Moab, UT, we followed US 191 into Arizona. This road is most famous for its trek through Monument Valley (Utah/Arizona border). Along the way, we visited Newspaper Rock, the Goosenecks of the San Juan State Reserve, and Mexican Hat.

In Monument Valley, spectacular buttes and mesas are visible as the more resistant Shinarump Conglomerate overlies shales of the Moenkopi Formation (both Triassic in age).
