Pembroke Magazine offers readers a rare opportunity to move through time, across cultures, and into contemporary literature and art.

Through the fifty years of experience of its founder, Norman Macleod, Pembroke Magazine stands in the mainstream of the little magazine — a tradition that includes other such Macleod publications as Front (1930-31), the Maryland Quarterly (1942-44), and the Briarcliff Quarterly (1944-47).  The magazine spans cultures in its frequent publication of Third World writers — many of whom first appeared in the pages of the Pembroke Magazine.  And Pembroke Magazine gathers the best from artists of all ages and occupations from North Carolina, the United States, and throughout the world.

Pembroke Magazine, is then, a link with the past, a foray into the future, and a gathering of the present.
