spanish program

The Spanish program at UNCP offers a bachelor of arts degree, which allows students a variety of specialization courses in Spanish language and literature, preparing students for graduate studies, teaching, and other careers requiring a strong liberal arts background combined with knowledge of a foreign language and cultures. It allows students to take courses in a broad range of Spanish studies.

The B.A. in Spanish Education is intended for those who wish to be licensed to teach Spanish in the public schools. Both programs include a series of active and interactive experiences that prepare students to enter tomorrow’s job market as confident and competent professionals in a rich, multifaceted discipline. Also available are a minor and a concentration in Spanish, which, in conjunction with other departments, complement students’ majors, deepen their cultural and linguistic appreciation, and enhance employment opportunities.

Study abroad and exchange programs and other international activities support UNCP's commitment to international education. The Spanish program strongly encourages and supports its students to enroll and participate in the various programs and courses offered to study abroad. These courses–currently taught in Mexico, Peru, and Spain–have been designed to provide students with extraordinary opportunities to practice and enhance their knowledge of the Spanish language while acquiring an exciting cultural experience. These programs also aid in strengthening international ties and providing information crucial for the development of global knowledge and awareness.
