The
Basic
Competencies
All
preservice teachers in EDN 302 beginning in the fall of 2002 will
add to and build their basic technology skills. During the semester
that EDN 302 is taken the student will complete a Basic
Technology Survey (PDF). Based upon the responses to this
survey the student is responsible for mastering some basic technology
competencies which include but are not limited to word processing,
desktop publishing, multimedia presentations, database, spreadsheet,
email, email attachments and Internet use. During EDN 302 the student
is required to complete at least one technology training session.
This training can be in the form of workshops, lab tutorials, online
tutorials, a technology course and/or instruction from a more knowledgeable
peer. All training does not have to be completed during EDN
302, but will continue with each successive course.
Students who wish
to take the workshop sessions in the ETC must have an active UNCP
student network/email account. Students
who do not have an active account can get help with this in the ETC
during the first 2-3 weeks of the semester. After that time
it will be necessary to go to Room 120 in the Science Building (Oxendine)
for help with establishing the account. It is strongly suggested
that students test their logins and passwords before coming to one
of the technology workshops.
The
free Adobe
Acrobat Reader is required to view and print the PDF documents.
Any questions
should be directed to the course instructor, the appropriate program
coordinator or Mrs. Debbie Thompson,
Assistant Director of Instructional Technology for the School of Education.
