All UNCP students are introduced to writing in the First Year Composition program. In English 0104, 1050, and 1060, students gain the rhetorical knowledge and writing skills they will need to begin work in any academic discipline. English 1050 and 1060 are the first step in the university's Writing Intensive program (the QEP).
Some sections of 1050 and 1060 are designated as Plus One sections, with a linked lab. Some sections of composition have special themes or other requirements. These are listed in the title of the course on BraveWeb, so please pay attention to any information contained in parentheses in the title.
There is an attendance policy that applies to all composition sections.
For those who desire to develop their writing skills beyond the offerings in First Year Composition, we offer minors in Writing and Creative Writing.
