UNCP’s Department of English & Theatre has offered a program leading to add-on ESL licensure since 2001. The program consists of the following six courses (18 hours):
Students can take the courses for either undergraduate or graduate credit and, upon completion of the program, can add on to either the “A” or “M” license. All courses are offered in the evening, and the program can be completed within two years. Students are also required to have studied a foreign language and to demonstrate oral proficiency in English during an interview with the coordinator of the program.
The department also offers a minor in TESOL that does not carry add-on licensure.
For further information about the program, please contact Dr. Kay McClanahan, Department of English and Theatre, kay.mcclanahan@uncp.edu, 910.521.6633.
