Dr. Lisa Mitchell, Assistant Professor |
Dr. Lisa Mitchell, Assistant Professor in the department of Elementary Education began teaching at UNCP in 2009 in the School Of Education. Her teaching career included teaching in South Carolina for Allendale County Schools and North Carolina for Catawba County Schools, Gaston County Schools and Guilford County Schools. Dr. Mitchell has also supervised student teachers and taught methods courses at Appalachian State University, Belmont Abbey College, Gardner Webb University, Meredith College, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She continues her passion for the Arts participating in local arts events and continuing to display and sell her artwork at the Ashe County Arts Council gallery in West Jefferson, NC.

Dr. Mitchell's research focuses on Beginning Teacher Support including a 2008 examination of teacher induction in 11 North Carolina school districts and Project PREP (Preparing and Retaining Education Professionals) a recent collaboration with 5 Sandhills' school districts funded by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. Dr. Mitchell also remains current in the field of Arts Integration and Instructional Technology through scholarship, service and teaching.
