BraveMail


BraveMail is UNCP's email system for students. It is syndicated through Microsoft. It can be accessed through BraveWeb from the University's website. Unlike the rest of our electronic services it does need to be set up separate from your University-issued username/password. Instructions for setting up BraveMail are below:

 

Go to http://www.uncp.edu/braveweb and log into BraveWeb.

Click on temporary password located below the BraveMail link.

A pop-up box should appear with your BraveMail temporary password in bold. You can do one of two things here:

  1. Write down the password and type it in by hand later  … or …
  2. Highlight the entire password and copy it (right-click the password and select Copy )

 

Click the red X on the top-right to close the window.

Click on the BraveMail link.  A Windows Live page will appear with the title Provide account information. Click into the Password box below Verify your information
Depending on what you did before, you can do one of two things:

  1. Type in the password into the Password box
  2. Paste your password (right-click in the box and select Paste )

 

Under Change your password, enter a new password in each field.  Do not select Make my password expire every 72 days.  This password will be used for BraveMail only and does not change your BraveWeb and BraveMail password!

Under Select a question and secret answer, select a Question from the dropdown list and enter your answer into the Secret answer textbox.  This will be used if you one day forget your BraveMail password, so be sure to make it something you will remember.

Under Add an alternate e-mail address, you have the option to provide another email address which will be used if you forget your password.

Under Your Information, select your Country, State, and enter your ZIP code and Birth year.

Finally, under Review and accept the Agreements, you need to review the Windows Live service agreement and click I accept to activate your BraveMail email account.

Once the account has been verified, you will be taken to a Sign in page.  Enter your complete email address (username@bravemail.uncp.edu) for Windows Live ID and your BraveMail password and click Sign In.

On your first login, you will be prompted to enter your Language and Time Zone. Then select OK.

Congratulations!  You are now in your BraveMail email.  You can access this email fastest, by logging into BraveWeb and click on BraveMail.

 

Accessing BraveMail on your computer or phone

The DoIT Helpdesk does not officially support setting up BraveMail on your computer or cell phone, so we cannot help you troubleshoot any issues that could arise while setting it up.
