

Add comments to and modify a Grade
Add Comments
Any grade entry can have comments added to it from either the Grade Details page or directly through the Grade Center.
- Add Comments Through the Grade Center
To add comments to a Grade Entry directly from the Grade Center, first make sure you are in the course you would like to work in and that you have the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center, go to the Grade Center Action Bar and mouse over an entered grade. Select the Action Link for the cell and from the drop-down menu select Quick Comment. Enter text into either Feedback to User (to share with the student) or Instructor Notes (to share with other Instructors, TAs and Graders) or both and then select Submit to save your comments.
- Add Comments Through the Grade Details page
To add comments to a Grade Entry through the Grade Details page, first make sure you are in the course you would like to work in and that you have the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center mouse over an entered grade, click the Action Link and then choose View Grade Details from the drop-down menu. In the Grade Details page, select Edit Attempt or Edit Override. Enter text into either Feedback to User (to share with the student) or Instructor Notes (to share with other Instructors, TAs and Graders) or both and then select Save to finish.
Add Comments to an Exemption
To add comments to an exemption from the Grade Center, first make sure the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center mouse over the grade to be Exempted, select the Action Link for that cell, choose Quick Comment, and in either the Feedback to User or Instructor Notes text boxes (or both) enter in any comments you wish. Last, select Submit.
Modify a Grade
You can change a grade directly from the Grade Center or from the Grade Details page.
- Modify from the Grade Center
To change a grade directly from the Grade Center, first make sure the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center, search for the cell of the grade you would like to modify and click once in the cell. Input the grade you would like it to be changed to and hit Enter on your keyboard.
- Modify from the Grade Details page
To change a grade from the Grade Details page, first make sure you are in the course you would like to work in and that you have the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center mouse over an entered grade, select the Action Link for that cell, choose View Grade Details, and then Override Grade or Edit Override. Next, in the Current Grade text box enter a value. Add any Feedback to User or Instructor Notes you wish and select Save.
Delete a Grade
Any grade can be deleted from the Grade Center, and grades that have been deleted will have any Override Grade and associated comments removed as well.
- Delete from the Grade Center
To delete a grade from the Grade Center, first make sure that you have the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center, mouse over the grade to be deleted and click once. You can remove the grade by either pressing the Delete or Backspace buttons on your keyboard and then pressing Enter. Last, select OK to null the Grade Value, which is seen as a dash (-), otherwise if you attempt to exit the entry cell or Grade Center, a dialog box will appear asking if you would like to save the grade entry. If so, in the dialog box, select OK to save the grade.
- Delete from the Grade Details page
To delete a grade from the Grade Details page, first make sure you are in the course you would like to work in and that you have the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center mouse over an entered grade, select the Action Link for that cell and choose View Grade Details. Once in the Grade Details page, choose the attempt you want to delete from the drop-down menu in the Current Grade Value section and select Go.
Override a Grade
Once in the Grade Center mouse over an entered grade, select the Action Link for that cell and choose View Grade Details. In the Grade Details page, select the Manually Override Tab. Enter the grade and click Save.
Revert a Grade
Any Grade that has been overridden can be reverted to its previous state. To revert a grade from the Grade Details page, first make sure that you have the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center mouse over an entered grade, select the Action Link for that cell and choose View Grade Details. In the Grade Details page, select Revert to revert the grade to its previous state. A warning message will then appear to confirm the action. Last, select OK.
Exemption
- Exempt a Student from the Grade Center
To exempt a student from a grade from the Grade Center, first make sure that you have the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center mouse over the grade to be Exempted, select the Action Link for that cell, choose Exempt Grade and an Exempted icon in the cell of the exempted grade will be displayed.
- Exempt from the Grade Details page
To exempt a student from a grade from the Grade Details page, first make sure the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center mouse over the cell of the grade to be exempted, select the Action, choose View Grade Details, and then Override, Edit Override or Edit Attempt. Next, check the Exempt student from this item box and select Save.
- Add Comments to an Exemption
To add comments to an exemption from the Grade Center, first make sure you are in the course you would like to work in and that you have the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center mouse over the grade to be Exempted, select the Action Link for that cell, choose Quick Comment, and in either the Feedback to User or Instructor Notes text boxes (or both) enter in any comments you wish. Last, select Submit.
- Clear an Exemption
To clear an exemption and return to the previous score from the Grade Center, first make sure the edit mode set to ON, next in the Evaluation section of the Control Panel, select Grade Center.
Once in the Grade Center mouse over the cell with the Exempted Grade to be cleared, select the Action Link for that cell and choose Clear Exemption and the grade will be taken back to Null (-).
