How to Run Disk Cleanup
Windows Vista
- Click Start.
- Click All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.
- Choose which files to clean up. Select either My Files or All User's Files
- Select the drive to be cleaned up and click OK
- Disk cleanup will calculate the free space on your computer, which may take a few minutes.
- After the calculation is complete, confirm that only the following checkboxes are checked:
- Downloaded Program Files
- Temporary Internet Files
- Recycle Bin
- Temporary Files
- Click OK and Yes when prompted to delete files. Disk cleanup will delete the files and close automatically when finished.
Windows XP
- Click Start.
- Click All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.
- Disk cleanup will calculate the free space on your computer, which may take a few minutes.
