How to Run Disk Cleanup

Windows Vista

1. Click Start.
2. Click All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.
3. Choose which files to clean up. Select either My Files or All User's Files
4. Select the drive to be cleaned up and click OK
5. Disk cleanup will calculate the free space on your computer, which may take a few minutes.
6. After the calculation is complete, confirm that only the following checkboxes are checked:
   
   • Downloaded Program Files
   • Temporary Internet Files
   • Recycle Bin
   • Temporary Files
   
   
7. Click OK and Yes when prompted to delete files. Disk cleanup will delete the files and close automatically when finished.

Windows XP

1. Click Start.
2. Click All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.
3. Disk cleanup will calculate the free space on your computer, which may take a few minutes.

   • Temporary Internet Files

Windows 2000

1. Click Start.
2. Click Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.
3. Select the drive you want to clean up. The default will be C:.
4. Disk cleanup will calculate the free space on your computer, which may take a few minutes.
5. After the calculation is complete, confirm that only the following checkboxes are checked:
   • Downloaded Program Files
   • Temporary Internet Files
   • Recycle Bin
   • Temporary Files
     
     
6. Click OK and Yes when prompted to delete files. Disk cleanup will delete the files and close automatically when finished.
