Latest anti-virus information

Please be sure that the virus protection on your machine is current.

To check to see that the information on your UNCP system is the latest:

1. Right-click the VShield icon on the lower right of your computer. It looks like a shield with a red V in it. A menu should appear.
2. Left click on the word "About." An "About McAfee VirusScan" window should appear.
3. The McAfee VirusScan w/ SP should be v 4.5.1 SP1.
4. Your virus definition should have been created on 30 June 2003.
5. You scan engine should be 4.2.60.

What to do if any of the above is not true.

If you do not have McAfee VirusScan w/ SP v4.5.1 SP1 call the helpdesk, 6260, for assistance.

If you do not have scan engine 4.2.60, follow these steps:

1. Left click on the START button, left click on RUN, left click on BROWSE.
2. Browse to P:/mcavirus/update-engine/4260eng.exe and double-click on it.
3. Click OK in the RUN window.
4. When the SuperDat 1.5.0 window opens, click NEXT.
5. When you get the message that SuperDat has finished copying files, click FINISH.

Check in the Vshield icon as described above and the scan engine should have been updated to 4.2.60.

If your virus definition is older than 30 June 2003, follow these steps:

1. Double-click on the VirusScan Console icon on the lower right of your screen. It looks like a magnifying glass with a red circle on it. The virus scan console window should open.
2. Double-click on the words AutoUpdate in the description column. The Task Properties window should open.
3. Click the Run Now button on the lower right of this window.
4. When this process is finished you can close all open windows.

Check in the Vshield icon as described above and the virus definition should have been created on 30 June 2003.
