III. Network Services
System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
SCCM has been successfully deployed in several labs across campus. Network and Operations staff have deployed several virtual servers, setup an SQL database, a secure Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and secure network access as part of the various tasks necessary
for the initial deployment. More virtual servers and configuration will continue as the complex solution is developed, deployed, and used on a broadening scale.
University Village Apartments Wireless Project
Network Services is working with Housing on a project to survey and deploy wireless network connectivity to the University Village Apartment Complex located on the Northeast corner of campus adjacent to Cypress Hall. The project will provide wireless coverage
throughout the five apartment buildings, clubhouse, and outdoor areas. The project is hoped to be completed before the Spring 2012 semester begins.
HVAC Upgrade in Lumbee Secondary Data Center
Facilities Management is leading a project to install redundant cooling within the 3rd floor telecommunications room. The project will involve expansion of the room, the installation of an in-room HVAC unit, and expansion of the fire suppression system. This
project will be completed by the end of November.
