Faculty Senate Academic Support Committee Report

Teaching and Learning with Technology Collaborative – Annual conference

The 2006 Conference was again held at the North Raleigh Hilton. A total of 5 presentations were conducted by UNCP faculty and staff. UNCP had 30 registrants, trailing only ECU, NCSU and UNC-CH.

Ruckus

UNCP has entered into an agreement with Ruckus, Inc. which gives our students a free music download service. Additional services such as movie downloads, download to portable players, etc. is for a fee. In a survey of the student body by the SGA the vote was overwhelmingly in favor of the service.

Skill Soft

Representatives of Skill Soft, an educational services company, held an information session for UNCP faculty and staff . Skill Soft offers subscriptions to online education and training and 24 x 7 online books. Titles are primarily in the business, human resources and information technology. UNCP is considering joining a number of other UNC institutions by subscribing to the online services.
