Faculty Senate Academic Support Committee Report

ePortfolios

A committee of Arts & Sciences chairs is investigating the use of student electronic portfolios. A delegation from the committee and advisors has been invited to attend a forum on the topic at the NCSU Teaching and Learning with Technology Roundtable later this month.

Teaching and Learning with Technology Collaborative – Annual conference

The TLTC’s annual conference was held on March 30 through April 1 in Raleigh. 20 members of the UNCP faculty and staff attended this year, with 10 presenting. This year, as in years past, the Distance Education unit under Dr. Charles Tita sponsored a limited number of attendees.

Search underway for instructional designer

The screening committee interviewed 3 candidates for the position and an offer was extended to one. Unfortunately, we lost the candidate to NCSU. The committee is reconvening to consider its next step.

Official Student E-mail - Update

Work continues to progress on the draft policy to make e-mail an official means of communication to students. The Faculty Senate Faculty and Institutional Affairs Committee hopes to report the draft policy out to the full Senate before the end of this academic year.

If all goes well today, UNCP will “go live” with the Finance module of Banner tomorrow, April 13th.
