Class Related

1. A projector does not find any input signal.

If you get an error message, such as "No Input Detected" and "No Signal Detected," press the RGB button on the remote control.  The RGB source has to be selected so that the projector receives RGB signals from a computer.

2. A projector indicates that the filter needs to be cleaned.

If a "Clean Filter" message appears, please report that to the DoIT Help Desk at 910.521.6260 or helpdesk@uncp.edu.

Computer Devices

1. My computer does not recognize USB drives.

If your system does not recognize the USB drive, also known as a flash or pin drive, it may be that the drive is being assigned the same letter name that is already assigned to something else. On this campus we assign F: to the network drive and the USB drive may be trying to use F: also. Please follow the instruction below to re-assign the USB drive's drive letter:

  1. Right click on 'My Computer'
  2. Select 'Manage' from the pop-up menu
  3. Select Storage -> Disk Management from the left window panel
  4. You should see the name of your device in the list (such as Kingston). Right click on the device name and select 'Change Drive Letter' from the pop-up menu.
  5. Click the 'Change' button and select an unused drive letter from the drop-down menu (check My Computer for drive letters that are in use).

Each time THIS PARTICULAR DEVICE will assume that drive letter and be available for use. If you have multiple devices that you wish to use simultaneously you will need to assign a different unused drive letter to EACH device.

2. Computers in the university computer labs do not recognize my USB drive.

  1. Log out of the machine
  2. Insert the flash drive
  3. Log in again
  4. The USB drive is recognized as F: drive

* Network (Harmony/Snappy) files can then be accessed by following the steps below:

  1. Double-Click on H: drive
  2. Open the folder that has the initial of your last name
  3. The folder with your username appears
  4. Open the folder to display your files on the server

3. I just got accepted to UCNP. I try to activate my account from a campus lab computer, but I even cannot get into the network system.

To obtain a student network account using labs on campus, you may login with the USERNAME: STUACCT. No password is required.

Once you log into the system, go to the account activation page at https://braveweb.uncp.edu/account/start.

NOTE: The STUACCT account will only be active during the orientation period. However, you may access this new account Web page from any internet connected computer. If you do not have access to one, you may go to the computer lab on the second floor of Sampson Livermore Library or DoIT, Room 1300 Oxendine Science Building for assistance.
