I need to do an assignment in an application I've never used. Can you walk me through this or can I get training or assistance?
DoIT does provide training for students on some software packages:

I need to update my computer software to Office 2007. Does UNCP offer student rates?

How can I open .docx files with Office 2003?

Microsoft has a compatibility pack for Office 2003 that you can download and install. Once installed, you will be able to open Office 2007 files as if they were Office 2003 files without any additional step.
