DoIT

Information for new faculty

Welcome to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. In order to access the university's computing resources, you need to obtain and activate a number of accounts.

Please print out the pdf forms and submit them to appropriate departments. All forms, except Blackboard, need the proper signatures, and DoIT needs the original to keep on file (not a fax or copy).

 

I. Network account (required)

The DoIT network staff will contact you once your network account is established. You will receive your username, password and UNCP e-mail address.

II. Institutional Effectiveness (required)

Institutional Effectiveness will enter the faculty data into the UNCP information system.

III. BraveWeb (required)

BraveWeb is used for obtaining a class roster and entering grades, and other tasks.

After completing steps I and II, please contact Alan PreVatte at alan.prevatte@uncp.edu. DoIT will grant Braveweb access based on data entered into Banner by Institutional Effectiveness and based on the faculty network account information (username/password).

 

IV. Computer setup (required)

Computer setup needs to be scheduled through the Help Desk, helpdesk@uncp.edu, 910-521-6260. The faculty member must have completed steps I and be present for the setup.

 

V. Blackboard (optional)

Any faculty wishing to have a Blackboard course site must submit the request form. A separate form needs to be submitted for each course. You will receive email once the course(s) is available.

 

VI. Web site (optional)

Please submit this form if you would like a personal Web site or need to access a departmental Web site.

VII. VPN access (optional)

VPN provides a secure network connection. In order to access the UNCP network resources using wireless or from outside of the campus, you need the VPN account and software.

VIII. Mailing list: Listserv (optional)

A number of mailing lists are available. We recommend that all new faculty members join the "newfac" Listserv.
