Ed Damman, UNCP,Turning Vinyl into Digtial
Are you over 40? Then you’ve probably got some old LP records or cassette tapes you haven’t listened to for years. How would you like to convert them to digital?
Ed Damman will address the equipment needs (audio equipment plus computer hardware and software) and will feature a demonstration of the step-by-step conversion process. If you still have a turntable and a computer your total investment could be under $50 (excluding your time).
The free, open-source software used for the conversion process even removes those annoying clicks and pops in well-worn LP’s.
Dr. Ed Damman is an Instructional Designer for UNCP. Ed currently works with the School of Business and the School of Education and will join the Teaching & Learning Center this spring.

Want to know what’s going to happen with technology on the UNCP Campus next? Please join us when we host Bob Orr, Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Resources and Chief Information Officer on this topic.
If you missed meeting Bob when he came to introduce himself back on September 4th, please take this opportunity to come by to hear about the progress in technology being made on campus. Bob is anxious to share “where we are” and discuss the “overall game plan” for the campus. He will articulate some of the things he has heard from faculty and staff about technology needs and spend some time talking about ‘what we’re going to do” in the short and long term.
This month’s Digital Soup and Sandwich takes place in the Faculty Dining Room from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. The presentation will begin at noon. |

Debby Hanmer:
Hands-on demonstration of the "InterwriteTM PRS.
PRS or Personal Response System Clickers are individual, hand-held electronic devices that students use to respond to questions during class. They provide real-time assessment and stimulate class participation. The accompanying software tracks and records each individual’s responses and provides instant feedback to the professor.
Dr. Hanmer of the UNCP Biology Department is currently developing materials using the clickers for Botany, while Dr. Strunk (SPIRE postdoc) is developing materials for Principles of Biology.
