Core Requirements

Before taking any of the courses below, students must complete ENG 1050 with a “C” grade or better.

ALL courses are required.
ENG 3040 Principles of Literary Study Prerequisite:
A “C” or better in ENG 1060 and “C” or better in one 2000-level literature course; This course is a prerequisite for all 3000-level literature courses
ENG 4570 Shakespeare Prerequisite: ENG 3040 or permission of the instructor; ENG 2470 recommended
ENGS 4xxx Seminar in Literature Numbers and topics vary; See projected schedule in department office; Prerequisite: ENG 3040 or permission of the instructor; Upper‑division standing in the University
SPE 2000; or Interpersonal Communication; or  
SPE 2010 Fundamentals of Speech  
0-2 courses Competency in a foreign language at the 1320 level  


The foreign language requirement may be met by completing 1310 and 1320, by testing into and completing 1320 only, or by testing out of both 1310 and 1320.
