Recommended Degree Pathway for English: Middle Grades Language Arts Education (6-9) Concentration
The recommended degree path outlines a sample course plan towards graduating in four years. The path suggests taking courses in specific semesters, but there may be semesters when a course is not offered. Consult your advisor for your official degree planning. This degree path is based on the 2011-2012 university catalog. Please click here for the catalog 2009-2010.
Please be advised that in order to graduate in four years individuals must successfully complete a minimum of 15 to 18 credit hours per semester.
Completion of a second Academic or Professional Concentration is required of all students earning Middle School Licensure. Select one of the following to meet this requirement: American Indian Studies, American Studies, Art, Biology, English, Exercise and Sport Science, Geography, Geology, History, Mathematics, Music, Physics, Psychology, Reading, Sociology, Spanish, or Special Education (requirements for each concentration can be found in the UNCP Catalog).
* Application for admission to the Teacher Education Program should be completed no later than the Junior Year.
