BACHELOR OF Science IN Physical Education (K-12)

Degree Requirements | Major Core Courses | Recommended Degree Path

 

To be eligible for admission to the Teacher Education Program, you must:

  1. Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on all college/university course work;
  2. Meet state established scores on PRAXIS, SAT, and/or ACT;
  3. Have completed EDN 3020 with at least a "C" grade;
  4. Not have more than (9) hours of General Education requirements remaining;
  5. Have earned grades of at least "C-" in all PED/HLTH/EDN professional studies courses completed to date; Department Chair;
  6. Have recommendation of advisor, EDN 3020 instructor, PE program coordinator, & PE Department Chair;
  7. Satisfactorily complete an admission interview after completing all requirements above;
  8. Complete a CPL (Candidate for Professional Licensure) Admission Form.

NOTE: Students who desire teacher licensure in Physical Education should declare the major as soon as possible in their college career. Consultation with the Program Coordinator or program advisor prior to registering
for General Education courses is strongly recommended.

General Electives/Academic or Professional Concentration: Students with the Physical Education (K-12) major are required to take 18 additional hours of any ATH, HLTH or REC prefixed course not already required. If desired, these hours can be focused into one of the following Academic Concentrations: American Indian Studies, Art, Biology, English, Geology, Geography, History, Math, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Reading, Special Education or Sociology. These courses are required for the degree and can be taken during any semester.

Academic/professional concentration must be approved by the program coordinator.
