APPLE Corps, the Association
of Pembroke Peer Leaders and Educators, is the premier student leadership
organization on campus. APPLE Corps is an affiliate of the national BACCHUS
& GAMMA Peer Education Network. Students may apply to be considered
for membership at anytime during their UNCP career. APPLE Corps is known
on campus for sponsoring the best dances with the best DJs in the area.

APPLE Corps members
are involved in the following activities:
- Certified Peer
Educator
- New APPLE Corps
members may participate in a one semester
training program to become national Certified Peer Educators.
After completing certification, CPEs may receive one semester hour
of academic credit for each additional semester they remain an active
APPLE Corps member.
- Peer Assistance
Leader
- PALs serve
as orientation assistants during New Student Orientation and Placement
Testing. They help new students find their way around campus, serve
as information resources, and are a friendly face for the first
few weeks of class.
- Workshops on
Wednesdays (WoW!)
- APPLE Corps
coordinates this weekly program that brings experts to campus on
a wide variety of topics including: Getting What YOU Want from Drinking
Alcohol, Stress Management, Women's Health, Men's Health, Living
with Roommates, Personal Safety and Rape Prevention, Nutrition and
Healthy Eating, Committed Relationships and School, Am I "Normal?"

on upcoming programs.
- Awareness Weeks
- APPLE Corps
sponsors week-long activities involving the themes of: National
Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, Great American Smoke-Out, Sexual
Responsibility Week, Safe Spring Break, Carpe Key-em, as well as
Health Screenings for Depression, Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders,
Anxiety, Blood Pressure, and HIV. Check the CTC

for information on upcoming activities.
- Ask
APPLE
- Ask APPLE enables
students to anonymously ask questions about a wide range of wellness
and mental health issues. CPEs consult with campus and community
experts to answers these questions. Remember, Ask APPLE is not a
substitute for seeking professional care!
- Wellness Presentations
- CPEs are often
asked to present on a wide variety of topics for classes, especially
Freshman Seminar, as well as to both campus and community groups.
- Becoming a Member
- If you are
interested in becoming a member of APPLE Corps stop by the Counseling
& Testing Center in 243 Chavis University Center to pick up
an application and make an appointment for an interview.
