There are many opportunities
for the Career Center to help faculty and for faculty to help the Career Center so that, together, we can help students.
"Our graduating
seniors tend to be apprehensive about entering the job
market. When I discuss resume writing and other career preparation skills
with them, many students are very frustrated by conflicting instructions
and all the different formats that resumes may take. In addition, there
are sometimes contradictory and outdated information that creates confusion
as well. Taking my students to Career Services for a general workshop
on resume writing has been very helpful to both me and my students. The
information that can be conveyed in a one hour session usually provides
students with the type of information that is needed to begin writing
a professional looking resume. After this initial session, students can
schedule individual appointments with me or go back to Career Services
for a critique of their first drafts..."
