Community Opportunities

Students interested in volunteer opportunities in community organizations should visit the list of community partners.

Below is a list of opportunities for UNCP students to serve and volunteer with an off campus community agency. LSOP registered students may track service hours for LSOP credit. Click here to print a Community Service Log.

  • Tutors of reading and math are needed for 6th grade students at Deep Branch Elementary School near Lumberton. Volunteers are welcome Monday-Friday and will need to schedule a meeting with the principal or school counselor before starting. Interested parties will need to contact Leslie McPhail, School Counselor at 272-3073(Office Line) or 738-2514 (Main Line).
  • Tutor for Algebra 1A, 9th grade student from the Longbranch community, which is near Lumberton and Fairmont.  Will work out arrangements to bring student to UNCP. Contact Brenda Mcpherson, UNCP Nursing Department at (910) 521-6522.
  • Democracy Summer is an innovative program for undergraduate college students in North Carolina. Gain hands-on experience as a paid organizer working for fairer elections with one of the best non-partisan advocacy organizations in the state!
