• "Using NASA's Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities Program as an Effective Outreach Tool to Reach Native American Youth." This project provides travel funds for the UNCP/UNCC microgravity research team to go across the state of North Carolina and speak about the program to schools or other interested youth groups.
  

• Research Intitiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE)
  A new program for students who are considering a career in biomedical research; sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  

• North Carolina Space Grant Consortium
  Provides funds for students to do undergraduate astronomy research. Presently students are learning to do CCD astronomy and taking pictures of astronomical objects
