Message from Committee Chair Freda Porter '78

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke community has enjoyed a season of University expansion, national recognition, and unprecedented community and regional support. Over the next few months, constituents representing the UNCP community will begin the process of finding a new and brilliant leader for the University. The search for a Chancellor is one of historical significance, as this position requires a dynamic leader who is capable of fulfilling the duties of the chancellorship and who possesses the qualifications necessary to formulate a clear vision for UNCP’s future.

Each member of the UNCP Chancellor Search Committee brings a unique perspective of the University community to the search process. Yet our collective job is to find a leader whose focus is on the pursuit of academic excellence, whose insight will foster UNCP’s unique diversity and history, and whose integrity will continually advance the mission of the University.   I am certain that the deliberate haste of the search for a new Chancellor will bring renewed excitement to the UNCP community.
