President's Volunteer Service Awards!

The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes individuals, families, and groups that have achieved a certain standard – measured by the number of hours of service over a 12-month period or cumulative hours earned over the course of a lifetime. This award is a Presidential honor that recognizes the valuable contributions of volunteers who are answering President Barack Obama’s call to serve others through their current volunteer activities or lifetime service.

Annual Student Awards

Community Impact Student Award: (Fall semester)

As a member of the North Carolina Campus Compact, UNCP presents one award annually in the Fall semester to a student who has made significant, innovative contributions to campus-based efforts to address community needs. The Community Impact Student Award winner can be a sophomore, junior or senior. All nominees must be full-time students enrolled at UNCP. Graduate students are not eligible for this award.

Nominations are due by the last Friday in September of each year. Submit student bio and nomination cover form to the Office for Community & Civic Engagement located in Jacobs Hall, Suite K.

A book scholarship is awarded to the service award winner.

"Makin' A Difference" Service Award: (Spring semester)

One award is presented annually in the Spring semester in memory of 2002 December graduate and community activist Sim White, who died on February 18, 2003. He explored and obtained resources available to students and his community. He stressed the importance of self-strength and worth. He valued others and helped them in accomplishing their goals. His warmth, compassion and smiles were a light off his fellow classmates, friends and associates. All students volunteers and activist who emulate these leadership and service characteristics are eligible to be nominated for this award.

Nominations are due 1st Friday in April of each year. Nomination forms may be obtained at the Office for Community & Civic Engagement located in Jacobs Hall, Suite K.
