The PDF version of the 2001-02 UNCP catalog contains the complete text of pages 1-349 of the print catalog; page numbers in the PDF version correspond exactly to those in the print version. All information contained within this web site can be provided in alternative formats upon request by contacting Disability Support Services.

The free Adobe Reader is required to view and print the catalog.

Adjusting Magnification

When you first open the catalog, the degree of magnification will be displayed toward the left of the bottom bar of the Acrobat Reader window. If it is set on less than 100%, the text you are looking at will probably not be readable. You can click on the down arrow immediately to the right of this display and choose a larger degree of magnification; 150% is probably the best choice. You can also use the hand tool or the zoom tool to adjust the degree of magnification.

Moving Through The Catalog

The catalog should open at page 1, with "1 of 349" displayed in the bottom bar of the Acrobat Reader window. You can click on the right arrow to the right of this display to advance through the catalog one page at a time; the display will change as you do this, so you will always know which page you are currently in. You can also use the scroll bar on the right of the Acrobat Reader window to scroll through the section(s) of the catalog you wish to consult. And you can use the hyperlinks (described in more detail below) in the Index and Tables of Contents to be taken to a specific section of the catalog.

Using The Hyperlinks

Anything that displays in blue rather than black contains a hyperlink to another part of the catalog. In addition to the links in the Index and tables of contents, the bottom of each page (except page 1) contains a "Return to Index" button (on the left) and a "Return to Contents" button (on the right).

The most complete set of links (over 200) is in the Index. Clicking on the "Return to Index" button on any page will take you to the first page of the 5-page index. Setting the magnification on 125% or 150% will display both columns on each page. Index items are listed in alphabetical order, and you can scroll through until you find the link to the specific information you are looking for.

The main Table of Contents contains links to each major section (each tab in the print catalog). Most sections begin with their own tables of contents, with links to various topics within that section. The most extensive of these is at the start of the College of Arts and Sciences section (page 81), which contains links to each of the 13 academic departments in Arts and Sciences.
