UNCP's College of Arts and Sciences serves students, as well as the academic and larger communities, by teaching, promoting, and expanding knowledge in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and physical sciences. As the primary provider of courses in the university’s General Education program, the college promotes student success, providing support and guidance while maintaining high standards, and works to ensure that students have a rich understanding of the people, places, events, and forces that have shaped both the human experience and the natural world.
Faculty in the college not only teach students, employing both state-of-the-art technology and personal attention, but also produce scholarship that disseminates and expands knowledge in their disciplines. Often in conjunction with students, these faculty also serve the regional community through service-learning and other means. Through personal teaching, meaningful scholarship and creative work, and valuable service, UNCP’s College of Arts and Sciences develops knowledgeable and skillful professionals, forms thoughtful and informed citizens, and, ultimately, makes a better world.
