Interpersonal Violence/Sexual Assault
The Counseling and Testing Center along with campus police have developed an Interpersonal Violence and Sexual Assault Response Team (IV-SART). The goals of this committee are to educate the campus community through increasing awareness of sexual assault while working to reduce instances of domestic and sexual violence. IV-SART is trained to address educational needs as well as work with individuals who have experienced violence.
The Interpersonal Violence-Sexual Assault Response Team members are compiled of a cross section of the campus community. They strive to be educated, aware of, and available for any needs the UNCP community could encounter. The members act as advocates and help with the resources and referral options, on and off campus. Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.)
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a Martial Arts program. Our courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. Instructors and provide each student with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth.
R.A.D. classes are offered on a semester basis for women and men. For information contact us at 521-6202.
