College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

SCHEDULING AND REGISTRATION

FEES: All registrations must be completed a minimum of two days prior to the test date. The payment options for registering online are Visa, MasterCard, and electronic check. The total fee to take one CLEP exam is $118.00 (administration fee and test fee). The administration fee of $38.00 is payable online and is paid at the time the appointment is made. The test fee of $80.00 is payable by credit card/debit card only on the day of the test; therefore, you must bring your credit/debit card with you to the test. Administration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Fees are subject to change without notice.

RESCHEDULING POLICY: If you are unable to make your appointment, you must contact the Counseling & Testing Center via email at counselors@uncp.edu a minimum of two days prior to the test date to reschedule the examination. Only ONE reschedule is permitted without paying another fee.

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS: If you require special accommodations, please contact the UNCP Counseling & Testing Center (910-521-6202 or counselors@uncp.edu) a minimum of ten business days before the test date. Special accommodations will only be granted if the tester provides full documentation of approved accommodations to the Counseling & Testing Center.

ON TEST DAY

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION: All appointments are two hours in length. Candidates must report 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time.

LOCATION: All examinations are administered in room 221 of the Chavis University Center. Parking is available immediately in front of the Chavis University Center in lot 16. A parking permit will be issued to you when you check-in for your exam. Click here for a map indicating the Chavis Center and parking. The Chavis Center does not have a street address, however this address (Pembroke Place Apartments, 490 Prospect Road, 28372) is located across the street from the Chavis Center and may be used for GPS navigation.

ID REQUIREMENTS: Examinees are required to bring a valid form of government-issued identification that includes a current photo and your signature (acceptable documents include a driver's license, passport, state-issued identification card or military identification) to be admitted to the test. YOUR ID CANNOT BE EXPIRED and MUST BE IN THE NAME IN WHICH YOU ARE REGISTERED. Anyone who cannot meet these admission requirements should call the Counseling & Testing Center at 910-521-6202 prior to the test date. EMAIL CONFIRMATION: Examinees must bring the test registration confirmation email which is received after completing the registration process to be admitted to the test. Please check your SPAM filter if you do not receive this email message.

CALCULATOR POLICY: Calculator functions are provided within the delivery of the examination for subjects that permit the use of one. Educational Testing Service and College Board determine the policies for the use of calculators. Refer to http://clep.collegeboard.org/students.

PERSONAL ITEMS: UNCP testing policy prohibits access to cell phones, PDAs, audio and photographic devices, digital or beeping watches, large purses or bags, food, or drink at test administrations. Lockers are provided for storage of personal items during the exam.

SCORE REPORTS: Information regarding passing scores and course equivalents that may be used at UNCP can be found on www.uncp.edu/ct. Your student copy of the score report will be printed and given to you immediately following the examination, except if you are taking College Composition. College Composition score reports are received within four weeks of the test date.

RETEST POLICY: The College Board provides the retest policy for the College Level Examination Program. A failed test may be repeated no sooner than six months after the initial date of the examination. Credit cannot be granted for any examination repeated before a six-month period has elapsed. CLEP Examinations may be taken prior to or during the student's enrollment with the following exception: no CLEP examination credit will be accepted during the final 25 percent of a student's course work. Successful completion of each examination earns three to twelve semester hours of credit and may exempt the student from certain General Education (as defined below) or major requirements. In some cases, only general elective credit will be awarded.
