Q1: What majors are offered at UNCP?

A: UNCP offers a variety of majors. Please refer to the academic programs section of the 2008-09 catalog for a list of the current majors.

Q2: What minors are offered at UNCP?

A: Many students use the elective hours required for their major to pursue a minor. Please refer to the academic programs section of the 2008-09 catalog for a list of the current minors.

Q3: When must I declare a major?

A: Once you are committed to a major, we recommend that you declare it right away. Many of the majors at UNCP have courses that they suggest you take during your first year so that you don't fall behind. However, you have until the end of your 3rd semester to declare a major and you can always switch majors if you change your mind.

Q4: How do I declare a major / minor?

A: To declare a major / minor you will need to complete a Declaration of Major / Minor Form. This form requires you to get your current academic advisor's signature as well as the signature of your new advisor within your major. Once completed this form must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar

Q5: How do I change my major / minor?

A: If you decide to change your major / minor, you will need to complete the Declaration of Major / Minor Form requesting a change. Again, your current academic advisor and your new advisor will have to sign the form.

Q6: What can I do with a major in .... ?

A: The Career Services Center located on the 2nd Floor of Chavis University Center has an excellent Career Library. One link that you can use to find out about careers in certain majors is "What can I do with a major in.... ? "
