Post-test for Freshman Seminar
freshman seminar
The University of North Carolina at Pembroke is committed to providing a quality education to all admitted students, regardless of their backgrounds. Realizing that a university education requires attitudes and skills that are often quite different from those that are cultivated at the high school level, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke has developed a course - Freshman Seminar - to aid in the transition from high school to college.
Through readings, discussions, written communication, oral presentations and other activities, students will be offered the opportunity to develop skills and explore the issues that are critical to their success now and after graduation. Specifically, students are encouraged to develop academic skills that are appropriate for a university education, including time management, note taking, text reading, and test preparation and taking. Students will also become acquainted with the many services that are offered through the University including Student Support Services, the University Computing Services, and the Career Services Center, where they will begin to explore career options. And finally, personal development, exploration, and well-being are emphasized.
Freshman Seminar is an twelve-week-course that is required of all incoming freshman. It is taught by UNCP faculty and staff from across the campus.
