Academic Resource Mentors (ARMs) are paraprofessionals that address students' unique academic concerns to guide them in achieving academic excellence. ARMs focus on student growth and empower them to become self-directed learners that understand their academic responsibilities.
We are upper-class students who are successful academically, involved in campus life, and have a desire to help college students successfully manage their transition to UNCP.
We serve as a first year advocates, are guides to campus resources, host workshops, work one on one with students to assist in study skills as well as basic adjustment to college and serve as a role model for academic, co-curricular and leadership behaviors.

Hi, my name is Brittney, and I am a sophomore majoring in Mass Communications. I chose to attend the University of North Carolina at Pembroke because I enjoy the small class environment and the opportunity to have more of an educational relationship with the faculty. I took the position as a mentor so that I could help students with their journey on our campus, and to help them achieve their academic goals. I am happy to help anyone that needs help, so please do not hesitate to come by and see me. |

Greetings, my name is Latif Darden and I am a senior student pursuing a major in political science, concentration in international studies, and a minor in terrorism studies. I have chosen to become an academic mentor because I firmly believe that academic success is transferable if we learn to maximize our potential. While promoting self responsibility and self direction, I am strongly committed to listening, providing constructive criticism, and safeguarding the interests of all students. Together, we will employ the best solutions to go over the top both academically and socially. I look forward to working with you. |
