William “Rick” Crandall earned a B.S. degree in Hotel/Restaurant Administration from Florida State University in 1978. Over the next decade, he worked in the restaurant and contract foodservice industry in various management capacities. He later earned his M.B.A. (1988) and Ph.D. (1992) degrees from the University of Memphis. Dr. Crandall taught for eleven years at Concord College in Athens, WV. During his tenure, he developed an interest in crisis management and served on the college’s crisis management team. His publications on organizational crises have appeared in SAM Advanced Management Journal, The Journal of Applied Management and Entrepreneurship, Southern Business Review, Academy of Strategic and Organizational Leadership Journal, Journal of Business in Developing Nations, Internal Auditing, Security Management and Central Business Review. In addition, Dr. Crandall speaks frequently on crisis management to groups both on and off campus.
