Dr. Ramin Cooper Maysami is currently the Dean and Professor of Economics and Finance at the School of Business Administration, University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He served as the Chair of Economics, Finance, and Decision Sciences department prior to his appointment as Dean and was the Founding Director of the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies. Dr. Maysami joined UNCP in 2003 following a 9-year stay in Singapore where he conducted research in financial services and regulation, and served as a consultant to several financial institutions and government agencies, in addition to teaching in the country's premier school of business, Nanyang Business School. He taught at the University of Illinois at Springfield prior to his time in Singapore.

Dr. Maysami is an avid researcher and writer. His areas of research include regulation of financial institutions, interest-free banking and finance, entrepreneurship, and recently, online teaching and learning. His publications appear in academically refereed journals as well as professional/practitioners journals. He is the co-editor of Journal of International Business Research and Practice, member of editorial board of International Journal of Sustainable Strategic Management, and a regular reviewer and discussant for academic conferences and journals. He is the recipient of several awards including a UNCP's Outstanding Teacher Award and the Adolph L. Dial Endowed Awards in the area of Scholarship and Creative Work. Dr. Maysami graduated from Iowa State University, and received his CPF license from the Financial Planning Association of Singapore.
