Dr. Howard G. Ling is MBA Director and Associate Professor of Marketing and International Business at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Prior to joining UNCP in 2001, Dr. Ling taught and served as Chair of the Department of Business and Economics at St. Andrews Presbyterian College and also taught at Gettysburg College. Dr. Ling’s research interests focus on the intersection of innovation and consumer behavior and he has published widely in the areas of consumer attitudes toward genetically modified food as well as first mover advantage. Presentations from this research have appeared at conferences sponsored by the Society for Marketing Advances, the Academy of Marketing Science, the Marketing Management Association, the Hawaii International Business Conference, South East Decision Science Institute and the International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines.  Dr. Ling’s research has been published in The International Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives, The International Journal of Business, Marketing, and Decision Sciences, Marketing Management Journal, The International Journal of Business Education, and The Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice.
 His current teaching responsibilities include Marketing Strategy, Marketing Research, Principles of Marketing and International Marketing. As part of his role as MBA Director, Dr. Ling has also been very active in directing graduate student consulting engagements within the regional business community. Recent clients include such non-profit organizations as Waterworks Regional Arts Center in Lumberton and the Laurinburg Maxton Airport Commission. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Ling was involved in business journalism and corporate sales and marketing.  Dr. Ling holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from Old Dominion University, an MBA from UNC Charlotte, and a B.A.  from Davidson College.
