Ericka Jones Whitaker serves as the Executive in Residence of Engaged Outreach for Student Internships and Organizations. She is also responsible for a full-time teaching load in the Marketing, Management, and International Business Department (MMIB).  Prior to being hired full-time at UNCP, Whitaker was an Adjunct Lecturer for the School of Business.  She instituted the first Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) student chapter at UNCP and is now the Faculty Advisor for both SHRM and Enactus (formerly Student’s in Free Enterprise – SIFE).  These organizations are viable student chapters which fosters professional leadership skills through mentorship, community engagement, social interaction, and leadership activities. In addition to being the Advisor for these two organizations, she oversees all School of Business student organizations and the Internship Program for all interested business majors. Her educational background includes: a Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership & Administration (ABD), Fayetteville State University; Fayetteville, NC; a Master of Science in Administration (MSA), Trinity University; Washington, DC; and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Communications, The University of Maryland, University College; College Park, MD. Her most recent position, before joining UNCP full-time, was as the Foundation Director and Public Information Officer at Robeson Community College where she led the Capital & Naming Rights Campaign and served as a staff member of the President’s Executive Cabinet.  Prior to moving to North Carolina, Whitaker lived in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area for 14 years and worked in executive administration for several major nonprofit organizations to include: The American College of Ob/Gyn (ACOG) and The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). Whitaker is currently a member of several professional organizations and serves on many community boards.
