Q: How do I obtain my Braves OneCard?
A: By bringing a picture ID (current driver’s license, passport, military ID or state issued ID card) to our office inside the Auxiliary Services building.
Q: Is there a fee for the card?
A: No. Your first ID card is issued free of charge. Lost, stolen or damaged cards are replaced for a $25 fee.
Q: Do I have to get a new card every semester or year?
A: No. Your card is designed to last for 4 years.
Q: How do I close my Braves OneCard accounts?
A: Only graduating students or students that are withdrawing from the University are allowed to close their accounts. Please fill out the top portion of the Close Accounts form and either mail or bring it to the Braves Card Office for processing. Checks will be mailed to the home address that is in the system in the Registrar’s Office. Please allow 7-10 days for processing.
Q: What is my Braves OneCard ID number?
A: It's the same as your Banner ID number.
Q: I left my card at home. Do you offer temporary meal cards?
A: Yes. You are only allowed one per semester. They are free of charge and last of 5 days.
Q: I’ve lost my card, what do I do now?
A: Please contact the Braves Card Office immediately so that we can put a hold on your account. We offer temporary meal cards that last for 5 days. Students are allowed one temporary meal card per semester.
Q: I need a replacement ID card. How much will it cost?
A: $25. The Cashier’s Office, located on the first floor of Lumbee Hall, will accept cash, check or debit/credit cards. Please bring the receipt over to the Braves Card Office.
Q: I lost my ID card. Can I get the same picture on my new one?
A: Yes, if it is still in our photo database.
Q: If I receive a new Braves OneCard, does everything from the old card transfer to the new card?
A: Everything transfers except for any funds you may have had on the chip of your lost card. If you still have your old card, then the funds on your chip can more than likely be transferred. We ask that you guard your ID card as you would your purse or wallet because the chip is like cash.
Q: How do I add value to my Braves OneCard?
A: In order to pay for a meal plan, bookstore bucks and to add funds for Bert’s (1) you can got the Cashier’s Office on the first floor of Lumbee Hall and pay in person (2) you can mail a check to the Cashier’s Office at: The Cashier’s Office – One University Drive - PO Box 1510 – Pembroke, NC 28372. Please be sure to include the name of the student whose account the funds will be applied to. Finally (3), you can call the Cashier’s Office at 910.521.6410/6770/6206 with your credit card information. The funds will be automatically applied to the appropriate account(s).
Q: Is there a history of my transactions?
A: Yes, for your meal plan, bookstore books and munch money accounts. All of these are handled by the magnetic strip on the back of your card, which is an online system. The Smart Chip, on the other hand, is an offline system. For the time being, it cannot keep track of individual users.

Q: Can I transfer funds from one account to another?
A: No. There has to be a paper trail on all purchases made in the Cashier’s Office. Moving funds would make this impossible.
Q: How many meals are left on my account?
A: The cashier’s in the Cafeteria, Bert’s and A la Carte can supply you with this information upon request.
Q: Do meals or Munch Money transfer from semester to semester?
A: It depends. If you purchased a residential meal plan, then those meals and the Munch Money that came along with it will terminate at the end of the semester. If you purchased Munch Money that is unaffiliated with a residential meal plan, or commuter block meals, those do transfer from semester to semester.
Note: Parents can also call the Cashier’s Office with their debit/credit card information and pay fees or add funds. The numbers are 910.521.6410/6770/6206.
Q: May I get a refund on my residential meal plan?
A: If it is within the time limit set by Student Accounts. Please contact Student Accounts at 521.6525 for more information.
Q: May I get a refund of my Bert’s account funds?
A: It depends. If your Bert’s money is attached to your residential meal plan, it is non-refundable. Bert’s money that is purchased in addition to a residential meal plan is refundable, if you are withdrawing or graduating.
Q: May I get a refund on my Bookstore account funds?
A: Yes, if you are withdrawing or graduating from the University and have paid for Bookstore Bucks with cash, check or debit/credit card. The Braves Card Office does not process any bookstore financial aid refunds. Please contact Student Accounts at 521.6525 for more information.
Q: Can I use Bert’s funds (Munch Money) in the Cafeteria?
A: Yes. The cashiers will deduct the cost of the cafeteria meal from your Munch Money funds according to what time of day you make the purchase. (Breakfast, lunch or dinner prices accordingly.)
Q: Can I use Cafeteria meals in Bert’s?
A: No. There is no way to deduct an exact amount this way.
Q: Can I use my Bookstore funds anyplace else on campus?
A: No.
Q: What is the chip on the card used for?
A: The use of the chip is optional. (1) You can add funds to it for printing at any coin-operated copier on campus at a cheaper rate than if using coins (2) It will allow you to play games in the Game Room and most importantly (3) you can use it to not have to carry change to do laundry in the dorm laundry centers.
Note: Any funds placed on the chip cannot be used in the Cafeteria, Bert’s A la Carte or the Bookstore.
In order to add money to the Smart Chip in order to use the vending function, students have to physically stick the card in any Cash to Card machine. Cash has to also be inserted in the machine.
Cash to Card machines do not give change.
Q: Is there a limit to the dollar amount that my card can hold?
A: It is recommended that students put no more than $20 on their Smart Chips at any one time. There is a minimum $25 deposit for Braves Dollars and Bookstore Bucks.
Q: Why does ‘Card is Mute’ or ‘Card Error Number XX’ appear on the card reader on a vending machine when I try to get a snack?
A: These are Smart Chip errors. If you get this error, please bring your card to the Braves OneCard Office for repair or replacement at no charge.
Q: I am a UNCP student that is either Distance Ed or at an alternate location. How do I obtain my Braves OneCard?
A: Please contact Distance Education (521.6367), or the Graduate Office (521.6271) for more information.

A: From 8-5 on weekdays. Lunch hour is from 1-2.
