Science Education Club Offers Field Trip to Mountains (Highlands, NC) (Scheduled for April 2012)
The Science Education Club is proud to announce a field trip to the Highlands Biological Station in Highlands, NC.
We will be leaving at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 13th and coming back on Sunday the 15th. Students are encouraged to come on Saturday the 14th if they can't leave on Friday. We will be staying in cottages at the Highlands Biological Station for the duration. The fee for the cottages will be paid for by the Science Education Club and/or the Biology Department. We will be taking the departmental van for students interested.
The field trip will involve education on the diversity of the mountain ecosystem and information on mountain culture. Dr. Ezell and Dr. Hagevik, along with others will be going to share their knowledge on one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world! The cost of the trip will only be $10, which will be used for food.
Here is the website link that has wonderful information on the Highlands Biological Station http://highlandsbiological.org/. The Highlands Biological Station has full research facilities, a botanical garden and a nature center.
If you are interested in attending please send us an email (msw006@yahoo.com) expressing interest, so that we can make arrangements. This trip is available for graduate and undergraduate science education students or those that might be interested in science education.
This is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY! The Highlands Biological Station has positions and internships available too.
Thanks,
Marajo Kellihan, Science Education Graduate Student
Dr. Rita Hagevik, Director of the Graduate Program in Science Education
