RISE Program Seeks Undergraduate Student Researchers

Applications Accepted February 4 - March 15, 2013

Undergraduate students who are interested in graduate school or a career in biomedical or behavioral Photo of RISE fellows in Dr. Ben Bahr's labresearch should check out the great opportunity available through the
RISE Program.

The RISE (Research Initiative in Scientific Enhancement) Program is a competitive program that matches outstanding students with UNCP faculty mentors who guide them through a scientific research project.

RISE has customarily held its Application and Selection activities at the beginning of the fall semester.  This practice has had its drawbacks, though.

RISE will move its Application and Selection Process to the spring semester.  Advantages to this format would be:

  • Fellows will be able to commence with mentored research and RISE activities at the start of Fall Semester.
  • Research mentors will have all summer to plan robust research projects knowing they will have a protégé. 

RISE will accept applications February 4 through March 15, targeting the end of the spring semester to announce the new cohort for fall 2013.
