The most important thing to achieve in your undergraduate career is a strong GPA average, but that is certainly not the only course-related consideration. Another important goal for a biology major is to make sure you are taking enough biology and other science courses to build a broad and firm foundation in your chosen area. While your coursework is largely dictated in the biomedical emphasis degree, the biology science ed. degree, and the medical technology degree, the general biology degree allows for a minumum of 33 "free" elective hours, and we would certainly encourage students to select additional biology and science courses to make up some of those elective hours. For a detailed description of the courses offered by the Department of Biology, visit the Biology (PDF) section of the UNCP Catalog. The free Adobe Reader is required to view and print the course descriptions from the catalog. For a schedule of Biology courses currently being offered, visit the Office of the Registrar's Schedule of Classes. To see when other courses will be offered in the future click Offerings. |
