The Department of Art is a member of the following professional organizations:

THE NEW MEDIA CONSORTIUM

The New Media Consortium (NMC) is an international 501(c)3 not-for-profit consortium of nearly 200 leading colleges, universities, museums, corporations, and other learning-focused organizations dedicated to the exploration and use of new media and new technologies. NMC member institutions are found in almost every state in the US, across Canada, and in Europe, Latin America, and Japan. Among the membership are an elite list of the most highly regarded colleges and universities in the world, as well as a growing list of innovative museums, research centers, foundations, and forward-thinking companies.

The consortium serves as a catalyst for the development of new applications of technology to support learning and creative expression, and sponsors programs and activities designed to stimulate innovation, encourage collaboration, and recognize excellence among its member institutions. Through its many projects, its comprehensive web site, and its series of international conferences, the NMC stimulates dialog and understanding through the exploration of promising ideas, technologies, and applications.

 

INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COMPUTER GRAPHICS

The mission of the International Assocation of Comptuer Graphics (IACG) is to expand and broaden the appeal of Computer Graphics as a genuine accepted art discipline across an united worldwide appeal. The IACG will focus on and demonstrate computer graphics as a significant form of graphic art as well as supporting many other styles. The IACG will focus exclusively on computer output committed to atomic (physical) media in one or more form(s) of printing. As such, the Association will carry out various physical and virtual exhibitions of digital graphics, help to establish a database of artists, and support various events linked to such computer graphics activities. Current members of the Association will assist individual and collective exhibitions and will, in all ways feasible, support each other to promote, sponsor IACG events and activities.

 

TRI STATE SCULPTORS

The Tri State Sculptors Education Association was formed in 1978 by a group of sculptors from Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina to promote public awareness and appreciation of sculpture in the region and to exchange ideas and information among its members.

 

THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR PHOTOSHOP PROFESSIONALS

The National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) is a dynamic trade association and the world’s leading resource for Adobe® Photoshop® education, training, and news. It is led by a world-class team of Photoshop experts, authors, consultants, trainers, and educators whose focus is to ensure that NAPP members stay on the cutting edge of Adobe Photoshop techniques and ahead of their competition.

 

MUSEUM OF COMPUTER ART

Museum of Computer Art (MOCA) is one of the most heavily-trafficked, comprehensive, frequently-updated and respected computer art museums on the Web. It tries to keep abreast of the latest and best in computer art. Both beginning and advanced artists frequently visit here, if only to see what the competition is doing. We expect it is a learning experience for artists of all skill levels, and for the viewing public as well.

 

SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE ART CONFERENCE

The Southeastern College Art Conference (SECAC) is a non-profit organization which seeks to promote art in higher education through facilitating cooperation among teachers and administrators in universities, colleges and junior colleges, professional art schools, and museums. SECAC members are concerned with the development of art in the respective institutions and communities served by their institutions. The organization represents a twelve-state area of the Southeast but membership and participation is not geographically restricted. The single requirement for membership is payment of dues.
